Don’t let this gorgeous fifty degree weather fool you, Kansas City, Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. In order to help St. Peter’s stock their food bank for the holiday season, the annual Cranksgiving Alleycat is this weekend. It doesn’t cost anything to race, but bring money or food stamps to purchase non-perishable items at a variety of metro grocery stores. Meet at the Anita Gorman Discovery Center [4750 Troost Ave] around 12:30 on Sunday [11/21].
Here’s more info from the organizer, Jeff Perry.
“Show up around 12:30 pm. You’ll sign a waiver, get a spoke card and a manifest and an envelope. The manifest will have your shopping list and the list of stores to hit. The farthest store is about 10 miles away by bike.
You have 2 hours to ride and shop. Put each receipt in the envelope and turn that in to the Knights at the finish, along with the food and other items purchased.. There will be a keg supplied by New Belgium Brewing and chili supplied for most dietary persuasions by the Knights.”
There will be awards for Heaviest Load, Highest Cost Load, and Best Dressed Shopper! Come race and give back to those in need during this holiday season!
More info can be found on facebook, duh.
