Continuing on my penchant for acquiring bikes with boys names, I managed to pick up a free Harry Quinn the other day. Yes Free! I simply couldn’t believe it when I saw it posted up on my local freecycle group, so I almost ran down there in the rain to pick this baby up. Whilst I have no more room for bikes at the moment, and the boyfriend would go nuts if I attempted to smuggle another in our small flat, I could not miss this opportunity. Harry Quinn is one of the UK’s most famous frame builders, and has been building frames in Liverpool since 1945! Now 92, he’s retired to South Wales, but his legacy is alive and kicking.
Unfortunately for me, (but lucky for my boyfriend) the Quinn was tiny when I got my hands on it, around 50cm – however I have a little girl friend who is coming to pick it up today for the price of a few beers, it needs a little TLC but its a lovely little bike, and for nothing, who can argue?
