Museum of Vancouver just opened a pretty exciting new exhibit: Velo-City: Vancouver & the Bicycle Revolution.
It traces past and recent history of cycling and current bike culture in Vancouver. The exhibit halls are filled with all kinds of bikes, generously on loan from bikers for the course of the exhibit. Roadies, fixies, freak bikes, cruisers, bmx, mountain, commuter, tall-bikes, choppers, and more are included in the timeline of how bike culture has unfolded. Feature photos and descriptions of well-known bike folks and films about bikes and biking are also on display.
Engaging visitors was important to the exhibit organizers; give your input on the future of cycling in Vancouver on one of the walls of the chalkboard room or submit photos of you and your bike to the flickr group.
The exhibit runs June 4, 2009 through September 7, 2009
Check the events page for talks, tours and movie nights, too.
