What a breathtaking weekend! It all started on Friday night when Emily and I took off on a moon lit, night ride. Later this would be known as our warm up for what would be a blasting weekend ahead. Over food and drinks we decided on outfits for the ‘BowieCat’ (1) event the next night.
Saturday evening, I traveled over to Emily’s new pad (2) where we got dolled up ‘ziggy’ style (3). Astoundingly we weren’t the only ones to dress up, most of the guys were rocking some sexy ‘ass showing’ tights!
Then the race begun and it was on fire! I could tell by my burning thighs but more so because of that first shot of tequila – thanks Jack! All things considered, I was just stoked to be keeping up with some of the guys. “Let’s smash it!” I screamed out to Emily.
Looking back on a previous post, I was frustrated with competing against guys. But this wasn’t about gold anymore. “I love this, I could get addicted to this!” I yelled out to Emily as we speed over the Harbour Bridge.
Back at the pub, I took a moment to breath and gulped down a few beers. With some prize gear in hand from Skin Grows Back and Bianchi, I couldn’t believe how well the stars had aligned. I hit the dance floor with the rest of the crew, where we stayed for the rest of the night. Sure ‘ziggy could really sing’ but seriously we can really dance!
Emily and I awoke the next morning, hung over and awful. But there was no down time for us we hit the next event on time. ‘Break for Cake’ a girls ‘Scavenger hunt’ (4) here we go. We were off and flying but bugger I had to go back because I left my bag at the start!
The night was getting to me, affecting my race but I pushed on through. “We can do this” Emily encouraged me. Check point to check point, looking for clues we were almost there with no time to loose. A quick stop at China town for a photo in a booth – oh no! quarter to three – we only have 15mins to get the last stop in Newtown! Racing down the hill with 2mins to spare, my limbs were about to fall off but didn’t care - we both managed to shoot a polo goal to finish the race!
Back at the park, we got to put our feet up and talk over the experience with the rest of the girls. It was a great event and I hope to see more female rides of all sorts come up. Me and Emily won some cool Rocket Fuel gear, which should be available soon for purchase on their website.
I concluded my weekend by soaking in a hot relaxing bath! It was there I reminisced on the experiences, the moments, the hills – everything that completed a perfect weekend.

I’m the biggest slacker on the earth! What an awesome weekend I have missed!
If only I could be on both my moto and my bicycle at the same time!
