First off, I’d just like to say hi and introduce myself. I’m Devan, and I’m originally from Las Vegas, but I go to school in Nashville, TN. So most of my posts will be on Nashville riding and such. I ride with a group called Skumlife, and I started an all girls fixed gear group here in Nashville called Cupcranks. You can check out my personal blog here, and this is me.

On to my second order of business. Yesterday, Skumlife and Cupcranks hosted the “Where the Wild Things Ride” here in Nashville. We had an amazing turnout, and the ride ended up being a lot more fun than I had even anticipated. We all met up at Halcyon Bike Shop, our local community bike shop owned by our good friends Andrew and Elise, in the early afternoon, hung out for a bit, and had a brief coffee run while we waited for every one to get there. From there we rode downtown, across the Shelby Street Bridge, and through the Shelby Bottoms Greenway to the Opry Mills Mall. We had lunch and then watched Where the Wild things are on IMAX. Overall, the day was a definite success! You can find more pictures on Keith Gallagher’s Flickr.

Nice! Unexpected in TN!! I lived in Texas for years and there isn’t much going on in the biking scene. Good for you for getting out there and getting ladies involved!

Where about in Texas? The scene in Austin is insane from what I’ve heard.
The fixed gear community here started out fairly small, but it’s growing insanely fast. It’s still a core group of really close friends though.

Not Austin, unfortunately! Austin is such a great city and so VERY different from most areas in Texas. I grew up near Houston and went to school at Texas A&M.
BTW, Loved the cupcakes!!

Nice to see someone in TN. I’m from Knoxville myself, my brother lives in Nashville and rides his bike daily. I’m in Sydney currently, and have yet to get up the courage to buy a bike and ride with the crazy traffic! I will soon though…

loretta, who is your brother?

His name is Paul, I linked him to your website, maybe you’ll hear from him. I know he has done a few group rides, but I don’t know if it is the same group you go with.

I’d have to imagine it is the same group as me. There aren’t any others here that ride fixed… hmmm…
