Shanghai is a city where most cyclists secure their bikes by just throwing a U-lock around the back tire. Shanghai is also a city where most cyclists come back to find that their whip has been lifted into the back of a sketchy truck and carted off to a Chinese chop shop.

Cyclehoop is a product designed to easily create and install more “fly-parking” (locking to street furniture) in urban cities.
Pretty cool design, the two loops enable cyclists to lock both wheels, plus they keep bikes from falling over (you ever see Williamsburg, BK after a storm?)
A great idea, hope to see it in use!

I wonder how secure those shear bolts are…
But the design is my favorite when it comes to locking options.
Seems like a great way in which businesses can economically encourage cyclist patrons.

Looks like a great idea to me! City planning, anyone? I guess what might be ideal would be if the sign post had this shape already built in, to remove the possibility of bolt removal.

They do look pretty cool, great idea being able to lock both wheels up. I agree with Matthew the bolts do look a little sketchy.

Thanks for posting this up guys and for the comments.
Re: shear nuts – they are really difficult to remove, have to be physically drilled out with and takes a really long time, whereas the thief would target the bike lock which normally will be defeated in minutes.
We have installed 300 across the country with no problems so far. Shearnuts make installing them easy and quick, something councils, allowing the option of removing if the Cyclehoop if it needs to be relocated elsewhere.
We have new designs that will soon be launched – check our our website in the coming months.
Thanks
