Hi!
This is my first post to Candy Cranks. My name is Caitlin aka Corky and I’m a fixed gear rider from Kansas City, Missouri. I’ll try to post a longer introduction post later. I wanted to start out by sharing with you a ride I organized this past weekend.
From here on out these rides with be dubbed BBG [bikes, bbq, and goodtimes] rides. Since Kansas City is known for it’s incredible barbecue, I thought why not go on some adventures while experiencing the best eats this city has to offer! Once a month, we’ll be traveling to a different barbecue spot. The weather definitely cooperated with us, I even got my first sunburn of the season!!! There were twelve of us in total, some riders were scared off since we had a KCSprints [Goldsprints] race later that nite. We meet at a centralized parking lot, where our critical mass meets monthly, then we casually rode around six miles. The ride we took there ventured around the Penn Valley Lake, along the Boulevard, down through the Historic Jazz District, and to our destination, Arthur Bryant’s.
Despite Arthur Bryant’s not being my personal favorite BBQ spot, it is considered one of most famous BBQ restaurants in the USA. That being said, I did enjoy a scrumptious Pulled Pork [open-face] sandwich. I covered it in crunchy coleslaw and tons of original and spicy sauce!
The ride back was a little bit more hectic, I ended up getting a flat which was my third one this week!!!! [I learned my lesson, free and patched up tubes might be free for a reason] Luckily, the 816 Bicycle Collective was only 10 blocks away… the kids hooked up me a new [unpatched] tube. I fixed my tire and I was on my way to the KCSPRINTS, more about that epic night later
.
Cheers!
Caitlin
