Sorry for the delay! I’ve been a busy bee with end of semester stuff [roughly 15 days till I'm done with organic chem!!!!!] Last Saturday’s BBG Battlecat was not only a success, but the after-party was cray cray [can you say pbr pinata?]

In total there were 17 riders [yours truly was the only lady...boo!], we weren’t given manifestos. Instead we were told where the first checkpoint and from there the second….get the picture? Towards the end of the race there were fewer and fewer checkpoint cards hence the “knockout” aspect of the race. I made it all the way to the ninth checkpoint at Truman and Benton “Grove Pool”.

Harish did a great job planning out all the stops! They had us weaving all over the city, from the start in Westport then out south to the Plaza then back north to Hyde Park then out west to Penn Valley then more north to Downtown then eventually towards the Northeast and finally the finish line was in the Bottoms.

As much fun as I had riding and puking, I must admit I was quite jealous of Elrod and Nikky’s checkpoint master duties. On the banks of the Missouri at dusk sipping beers and skipping rocks, witnessing the prettiest sunsets [purples and fuchsias] I’ve experienced in a while. Unfortunately they were too busy soaking in the scenery to snap any photos.

PBR Pinata Also, thanks to the boys at Volker Bicycles! I’m sure David J is going to enjoy that wheelset. On a side note: If you are free tonight 6-9 pm, Volker Velo Works [Volker Bikes #2] is having an opening party. The new shop is at 18th and Wyandotte, I hear this winter they’re going to start building frames ! More information here!
