Candy Cranks

Another friday night out with the rest of the bunch. Me and Ayie stopped by Adenan Bike Services along the way due to some lock ring issues. It was my first time at Adenan’s. Its a small bike shop with so much to offer. I found out that he is a certified wheel builder from the United Bicycle Institute from Ashland, Oregon. I don’t believe i have met anyone in my tiny island, Singapore, with such certification. Over that short period of time, while fixing the lockring, he shared with us information on quick fixes for bike malfunctions, on tools and also on how he started off in the bike industry.

We headed off to Haji Lane right the fixing, as I’ve promised to meet up with the rest of the guys there as well as Andira of ID Fixed. My label, PEONFX, sponsored for one of the alleycat race that he organized recently, so he came over with his family for some holiday and shopping in Singapore and at the same time, building bridges with fixie community here. I wished he had his fixie with him so that he can join us for a ride last night.

As always, we started the night ride thinking of a destination. We headed off to the KTM Railway Station in Tanjong Pagar for some dinner first. The nice part about KTM is, on that piece of land (that is smacked near the business district of Singapore) is pretty much owned by the Malaysian government. So Malaysian rules applies, hehe

The itinerary for the night is to ride down to 99 bends but along our way, we cancelled the plans and moved back to Orchard Road. We were then pretty much stuck there as it rained so hard that it’s impossible for us to move anywhere else. It was already 2.30am by the time the rain died down and most of us decided to head home. For some, Saturday = Workday. Bummer!
