I was riding a single speed SE Draft ’09, so to change it to fixed I had to get a new back wheel. So I decided I might as well just get a new set right? I went to a new shop called The Bike Lane which is in Chicago (duh) and they helped me out
This is before

Here are one of the guys working on it

And there’s my new baby. After I got it done I rode to work (8 miles) and it was really hard to get used to. Was shaky getting on and off and totally failed at getting my feet in the cages but I like it! I know it’s going to take some getting used to.

I first started with cages and soon got sick of trying to get my feet in them with the cranks turning…
Within 2 weeks I went clipless and have never looked back!
It may seem daunting thinking of riding a fixed clipless (it did to me anyway), but once I tried it I found it to be the way to go!

Yeah I may just get new pedals soon and say to hell with the cages but we will see!

oh man, +1 for riding the clipless. i started out riding my geared bike clipless, and i sometimes ride geared bikes without clipless pedals–but i can’t STAND riding fixed w/o clipless. the leverage is fantastic, and despite seattle’s many hills, i spin-spin-spin happily.
love the green–ourys are awesome.
