After taking a bit of a winter hiatus, the monthly BBQ rides are back in full force. A few things have changed this time around, all the rides will be held the LAST Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm. We’ll be meeting at the Westport High track (located just south of 39th and Locust), instead of Sunfresh. Since the Star Track events are held the rest of the Wednesdays in the month, we decided to stay consistent and meet there as well.
This month we’ll be heading to Smokestack off 89th and Wornall. Please remember, veggies are more than welcome on this ride, you won’t be the only one! Plus why the rest of us debate the ribs, you can still chime in on the sauces. Hope to see y’all on the 27th of April.

Despite this being a girls only cycle site, one of my boys got props over on Unknown Bicycle Blog. The ex-spirit leader in me needs to be the cheerleader for BBG and post this photos.

GOOD WORK, CHRISTIAN. All they BBG boys have been super supportive in me working on tricks and developing as FGFS rider in general. Can’t wait to get/build my new bike, so I’ll have more freedom to work on thrashin’ with them! Since I’m in the market for a new frame, I’ve been doing some research, but I loved input. What looks good to y’all out there?

Despite December being the busiest month ever, I hope y’all can come out on Thursday [12/16] for this month’s installment of bikes, bbq, and good times [BBG]. I’ve never eaten at Woodyard’s, but my friend Dustin has been pestering about this joint since I started this ride. Plus I’ve heard from a few other trusted ‘q aficionados this place is boss, applesauce.
burnt end chili
We’ll be meeting in the Sunfresh Market parking lot [4001 Mill Street KC, MO] at 6:00 PM riding to Woodyard [3001 Merriam Lane KCK]. The route is about 4.5/5 miles. Since it’s suppose to be in the high thirties, y’all should probably come ride before it snows again. [ugh!] That being said, due to the weather conditions we will be leaving from Sunfresh at 6:15!!! If you run on Midtown time pretend that 6:00 PM reads 5:00/5:30 PM, dig?!

Don’t let this gorgeous fifty degree weather fool you, Kansas City, Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. In order to help St. Peter’s stock their food bank for the holiday season, the annual Cranksgiving Alleycat is this weekend. It doesn’t cost anything to race, but bring money or food stamps to purchase non-perishable items at a variety of metro grocery stores. Meet at the Anita Gorman Discovery Center [4750 Troost Ave] around 12:30 on Sunday [11/21].
Here’s more info from the organizer, Jeff Perry.
“Show up around 12:30 pm. You’ll sign a waiver, get a spoke card and a manifest and an envelope. The manifest will have your shopping list and the list of stores to hit. The farthest store is about 10 miles away by bike.
You have 2 hours to ride and shop. Put each receipt in the envelope and turn that in to the Knights at the finish, along with the food and other items purchased.. There will be a keg supplied by New Belgium Brewing and chili supplied for most dietary persuasions by the Knights.”
There will be awards for Heaviest Load, Highest Cost Load, and Best Dressed Shopper! Come race and give back to those in need during this holiday season!
