LLAZY is shooting a music video Sunday evening at the corner of Mulberry and St. Louis Ave in the West Bottoms around 9:30/10. They need a big gang of bikers to be filmed chasing them! Think……
Here’s more info from the director, Joshua Gately:
“Have you ever wanted to back hand Zachary VanB or punch Michael Boles in the stomach? We’ll here is your chance to pretend. I am shooting a scene to be used as a rear projection in an upcoming music video for Llazy. Here is the low down: dress gutter punk as fukc (I’m thinkin’ Repoman, Decline of Western Civilization, Road Warrior, or just don’t bathe and wear black w/ safety pins) and show up on a bicycle because it’s a chase …scene and I will be filming everyone following me down N James ST to the Louis and Clark Trail and under HWY 69. I am no Ed Wood so we will probably do three takes and if anyone has one of those helmet cams bring it along. I could use some fill shots for jump cuts. Weapons are encouraged (bats, chains, maces, but absolutely NO FIREARMS) I need some bludgeoning footage. Bring friends. The bigger the crowd the better. I will supply some beer and water for hydration.“

BBG finished screen printing the bandannas for The Fantastic Four: Halloween Kick-off Relay Race! Each randomized team of four will receive a set of bandannas with their exclusive team colors. The rider can decide which set of scary monster teeth/sponsor they want to rock. I think the red with glow-in- the-dark paint might be my favorite! Now on to the t-shirts, next weekend will be here before I know it!
Kick-off Halloween by racing in The B.B.G’s Fantastic Four! Registration begins is at the DST parking lot [behind World Market off Westport Road] around 11:30 PM on Saturday October 30. The race commences at Midnight on the 31st. It costs $10 to enter with 20% of all the proceeds going to the 816 Bike Collective. Included with the entry fee are t-shirts and scary monster face bandannas. This relay race with be randomized, all the teams will be drawn from a shrunken head. Despite it being a race with prizes, it’s really just a big bike kid Halloween party!!! The check-points will be posted next week to ensure people know where to go, since the race is so late at nite.
Following the race will be an after-party at 21st and Mercier with bands, bonfires, and burning mans. Also, there will be prizes for best costume.
Thanks to our sponosors: Volker Bicycles, Fyxation, Velocity, Spank, Milwaukee Bicycle Co, Vitamin Water, and of course PBR!

The Lady’s Late nite rides have been proving to be quite the weekly adventure. A typical ride involves digging through a chocolate dumpster, drinking beers [&whiskey] by the train tracks, swinging from a dinosaurs tail, and chilling in the cemetery.
CHOCOLATE!

In addition to those usual exploits, last nite we ventured into North Kansas City via the new Heart of America Bike/Ped trail. It was amazing! We seamlessly crossed the Missouri River on a smooth and stressful ride North.
Pre-Bike Lane
Post-Bike Lane!!!!!
Most of us were quite surprised with how flat and quaint that part of town turned out to be. Amidst the cookie-cutter developments we stumbled upon a shallow creek with frogs singing which ran along side a few blocks brick buildings reminiscence of Lawrence, KS.
These rides happen every Thursday evening at 10 pm. We leave from Eagle Scout Fountain which is located on the northeast corner of 39th & Gilham

This past Saturday was the Annual Pub N Pedal: Photo/Bike/Scavenger Hunt. The event was succss despite the cloud that hung over most of the riders. Earlier in the day our friend, Mike, got hit by a car scattering one of his kneecaps and pulling tendons in the other. To rub salt into his bloody knee, it was his birthday. To add grain alcohol to that gaping wound, thieves stole his newly built Soma Rush.
There’s been no word on his bike, however most of the local news outlets have picked up the story. It’s a white Soma Rush with Red Foer wheels and “Hail & Kill” on the downtube. If you know anything call, 816-474-TIPS.

The annual pub n pedal crawl from Waldo to Downtown [plus everywhere in between] is this SATURDAY! Jones decided to go back to the roots, so we’re meeting at the old Osco parking lot of Main & Westport instead of Buzzard Beach. Unlike last year, where the winners ::cough cough:: [nikky/anne/me!] won a RUBBER CHICKEN, Jessica from PBR is providing prizes (chrome bag?!?).
A few closing thoughts:
-Don’t forget your camera!
-You don’t have to drink!
-Free race, but last bar has a $2 cover [free pbr keg from racers]
-1 to 4 person teams
–Try your hardest but my team with definitely be the best dressed/best biked [two tandems, what?!?!?]

downtown airport/skyline
This past Tuesday, David J, Tylor, Bryce, and I crossed the Missouri River and headed north to the Downtown Airport. There’s a lap around the airport that’s roughly 3.7 miles. Our goal was to ride for an hour and see how far we could get.
A history lesson for those who are unfamiliar. Frank Dodd’s for the first person to ride for a conservative hour and record his distance. This was in 1876 and he rode for 16.47 miles. In 1972, Eddy Merckx set a record of 30.715 mi which stood for 12 years. The current record stands at 30.9 mi which was set in 2005 by Ondrej Sosenka. Due to advancements in equipment and other technologies between the Merckx record and present day, the Union Cycliste International [UCI] has established to classes of records. There’s the UCI Hour Record [which requires competitors to use the same equiment as Merckx. They can not use time trial helmets, disc or tri-spoke wheels, aerodynamic bars, or monocoque frames] and the Best Human Effort aka the UCI “Absolute” Record.

Our hour ride went pretty okayyy for the first attempt. We probably should have rode the opposite direction, the head wind was so strong if I would have stopped peddling my bike would have come to a hault. Also, none of us drank enough water before hand. I would not recommend racing against yourself slightly dehydrated in 103 degree sunny weather. ha! Our final results were as follows. David J and Tylor both rode about 18.9 miles. I rode for 15-ish, I stopped with five minutes left to vomit [so shocking, I know!] Bryce gave in half-way through so his distance is unknown. Despite the vomit, the ride was exactly what I needed. I’m convinced I could sustain on endorphins and vitamin d alone. We’ll be repeating this ride next Tuesday as well. Meet us at Broadway Cafe around 4 if you want to ride with us!
