To be honest, I´ve never heard about grass track racing before, but it sounds like fun.
It must be anyways – with a beauty like this:

An awesome cycling chick, Marissa Eshima, who is completing an art degree at the University of Hawaii has created some super neat bicycle prints. They were made with 2-4 woodblocks each, with inspiration from her friends’ bicycles. She has made 9 prints that I am aware of, with these few being my favourites.

Check out more art and happiness from Marissa on her blog!
These are really cool.. I may end up posting all of her prints eventually!

I was doing some Christmas shopping on one of my favorite sites for handmade items: www.etsy.com. There were so many beautiful items, but this one really caught my eye.

This past weekend was super fun! 17 people showed up to ride to Yokohama Beach on the west coast of our island, Oahu. It was a gorgeous beach day and a really nice 8 mile ride out to the beach from the last 7-11 convenience store where people picked up spam musubis and four-lokos.
Sau kindly transported a bunch of beer (kept cold by his waterproof pouch filled with ice) and the beach mats.

Mel rolling with drink in hand:

Beautiful ride out.. lots of ladies amongst the guys this ride!

Smurfette befriends a horse as a flat gets fixed.

Our little crew on the beach.. Yokohama Bay on the west side!

The group, minus our brilliant photographer, Michael Keany.

and the endemic Hawaiian bicycle tree:

Cheeeeeeeeehee! Thanks for rollin with us!

How cool is this chandelier made from rims and bike chains? Creative and functional, I like it.

The 2011 TyK Calenders Women’s and Men’s calendars have been shot. This year, the Women’s calendar was photographed by Kim Capriotti, while Christopher Dilts returned to shoot the Men’s calendar.
The TyK Project was created to address modern day stereotypes of women. Frustrated with being pegged as either mechanically savvy but asexual, or cute but inept with their bikes, these PinUps showcase the dual nature that women cyclists embody.
The Ladies of TyK are everyday cyclists. They are not models. These women ride the streets of Chicago for a living, for transportation, or just for fun. But once in the photo studio, they’re given a chance to show off their femininity.
The Proceeds from the TyK Project go directly to the Chicago Women’s Health Center [CWHC]. Providing health care and health education to women in Chicago, they have long filled a gap in the US health care system. TyK is proud to give CWHC a leg up.

Made from solid wood (in this case, Walnut) and suspended by a solid steel square rod mount, this shelf can hold both your bike, as well as anything else you want on it quite easily. If you want to just showcase your bike, that’s fine, but if you want to utilize the space for books, flowers, bike accessories, etc., that’s what it’s there for.
Love this bike rack from Knife and Saw. Beautiful and functional, made from walnut and starting at $270.

Portland’s Rapha has opened a pop-up shop in NYC at 352 Bowery for a few months.
I managed to squeeze in a visit during an action-packed one-week trip to the Big Apple. Though it’s definitely dude-centric, there was a (very) small selection of ladies cycling-wear to check out and lots of cycling eye candy. Rapha aims to build a community while they’re in NYC, and even though daily live screenings of the Tour de France are over, there are rides, movie nights and a cafe to help foster the Rapha love.

Small, but excellent women’s cycling-wear collection

Portland transplants can get their caffeine fix at Rapha’s coffee bar that serves up Stumptown coffee.
