World Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships in Berlin – August 13-15 2010.

Berlin is proud to host the 2^nd Annual World Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships! This event will bring 64 of the best teams from around the globe for a three-day tournament to be held at the new Berlin venue, the four-court Sportcenter Rennbahnstraße Berlin-Weissensee! The event is being organized by the same crew that hosted the Bike Polo competition of last years’ 14th Annual European Cycle Messenger Championships at Tempelhof Airport.

What’s the bike scene like in Berlin for females?
Hmmm…I don´t know much about the “scene” – I ride by myself or with my friends.
However, Berlin is full of bicycles – most people use it as means of transport, and with the city being as flat as a pancake in most parts and also lots of traffic
(jams), I guess that makes perfect sense. However it´s also hard to miss the fact that fixie´s have become kind of a fashion trend here – you see them everywhere. There´s plenty of bike shops everywhere, bike events are being organized all throughout the year, and you´ll find all kinds of cyclists – from race to mtb over the casual ones who just use their bikes to get from A to B.

What’s your favourite ride right now?
My Rocky Mountain MTB although I ride it by far not often enough due to the lack of mountains in the Berlin area.

Where’s your favourite place to ride?
Surroundings of Dresden, especially in spring time when the rape fields are in full bloom. Or through a big city with empty streets after midnight.

Favourite riding outfit: Anything comfortable.

Favourite food: Thai food. Chocolate, cake, ice cream, you name it. I have a very big sweet tooth.

Favourite movie: Garden State.

Favourite book: There´s way too many to select just one. I like most of the Douglas Coupland books, Siri Hustvedt, …

What makes you laugh? My friends.

What makes you angry? Unreliability. Rudeness.

What are you listening to on your I-pod? Angus & Julia Stone, Caribou, The Jezabels, Cocorosie, Moderat, Wintersleep, Shout Out Louds, …
