This photo is from this summer by my friend at http://developandreturn.com
The frame is a Livery Super Track. All the parts are hand selected by myself, and I put the whole bike together, even built the wheels. The build is in spired by my dog Heidi, who is gray and has a purple collar and purple leash.
I LOVE BIKES MORE THAN ANYTHING! Over the summer I participated in the “I love my bike book”: http://www.ilovemybikebook.com/, and organized a bike race in Boston known as Race to Candyland, which had 47 racers participate, over 12 sponsers, and raised over $800 for the American Diabetes Association (I am a type 1 Diabetic). I am currently working in a Bike Shop, Community Bicycle Supply and I am learning to build frames with frame builder Armando Quiros at: http://quiroscustomframes.com/Quiros_Custom_Frames/Home.html. In the summer I will be in NYC working with Brooklyn Machine Works. One day I want to own my own bike parts and components company.
Sydney’s Bike Film Festival was on over the weekend, these are some pics from the Street Fair which had an assortment of crafts, cakes and bike bits on show. You could even get a ‘while-you-wait’ patch sewn onto the bum of your jeans.
I’m loving Nona Varnado cycling apparel, designed and produced in NYC. Not only cute but well made and functional, finally some cycling gear that’s comfy and flattering!
Check out the full range at http://nonavarnado.bigcartel.comor browse the website.Keep an eye out for the new range of next seasons shorts and tool bags, I will be!
Made from solid wood (in this case, Walnut) and suspended by a solid steel square rod mount, this shelf can hold both your bike, as well as anything else you want on it quite easily. If you want to just showcase your bike, that’s fine, but if you want to utilize the space for books, flowers, bike accessories, etc., that’s what it’s there for.
Love this bike rack from Knife and Saw. Beautiful and functional, made from walnut and starting at $270.
Abandoned vagabond-bike at the Seattle Ferry Terminal. The next day we saw a rather grizzled man riding around another bike that was set up exactly the same way! I’m surprised I didn’t see them at the Dead Baby Downhill.
“Several big names in fashion have agreed to volunteer to Be Cycle & Fashion 2010.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, the godmother, Marithe + Francois Girbaud, Kenzo Takada, Jean Claude Jitrois, Antik Batik, Ora-Ito, Swarovski, Ylan Anoufa … have a custom fixed gear bike to make arty. All wished to express their own vision of an ethical fashion, more in tune with the times, in order to sensitize the public to live the sustainable development on a daily basis, more fun and creative.
This exceptional collection of original and will be auctioned to benefit ACT Responsible in September 2010, after being shown at Cannes premiere at Cannes International Film Festival in May and at the International Advertising Film Festival in June.”
The Victoria Galeries in Sydney currently has an exhibition on some local riders and their bikes. For the opening The Sydney Bike Film Festival brought out the rollers to see who’s the fastest rider.
“On behalf of The Galeries and the Fixed Up exhibition, we warmed up our rollers for the first time in 2010. The Sydney Sunday Session crew were our test pilots with the best time of 23:57 seconds set over 500m by the eventual overall winner, Jack Mayo, who won the 1km final by only a handful of hundreds of seconds. If that makes sense. A tonne of video and pics were shot this day with heaps more to come over the next 5 weeks as we work towards finding out who is the fastest boy and girl in a Sydney Winter.”
Head down to have a go, the overall winner will take home a Peter Bundy $3000 frame.
