First off, I’d just like to say hi and introduce myself. I’m Devan, and I’m originally from Las Vegas, but I go to school in Nashville, TN. So most of my posts will be on Nashville riding and such. I ride with a group called Skumlife, and I started an all girls fixed gear group here in Nashville called Cupcranks. You can check out my personal blog here, and this is me.
On to my second order of business. Yesterday, Skumlife and Cupcranks hosted the “Where the Wild Things Ride” here in Nashville. We had an amazing turnout, and the ride ended up being a lot more fun than I had even anticipated. We all met up at Halcyon Bike Shop, our local community bike shop owned by our good friends Andrew and Elise, in the early afternoon, hung out for a bit, and had a brief coffee run while we waited for every one to get there. From there we rode downtown, across the Shelby Street Bridge, and through the Shelby Bottoms Greenway to the Opry Mills Mall. We had lunch and then watched Where the Wild things are on IMAX. Overall, the day was a definite success! You can find more pictures on Keith Gallagher’s Flickr.

For those of you who happen to be in Berlin at the moment and are interested in the fixed city movie (watch the trailer here ) – head to Kinobar Sputnik in Kreuzberg for it´s premiere tonight:
There´s gonna be two sessions – at 9pm and 9.45pm.
As crowds are expected, due to berlins evergrowing fixed gear community, make sure to RSVP at berlinpremiere@fixedcity.de.
‘So GreenUps, what is it? On the first Tuesday of every month we take over a bar or venue in the inner city and host social event designed to gather together a diverse and creative mix of different people interested in green, environmental and sustainability issues. The night is designed to broad spectrum, irreverent and fun (and free), and we are deliberately apolitical and inclusive.
Every month we ‘theme’ the night around a green issue or topic, with the intended result that it helps engage with particular sections of the community enticing them in to join in. The next event is a celebration of Bike Culture, we’ve got a bike valet (thanks to city of sydney), bike films, photograpy showing, lighting talks on bikes and related green issues, and lots of giveaways and prizes.’
Yay! Go Sydney, go you good, green thing! Unfortunately I won’t be in Sydney to attend but it looks like it will be a great night! More info.
This year’s lookin like its gonna be epic! Bike Rocks kicks of 09′s Bicycle Film Festival June 17th followed by Joyride June 18th. If you’re around, don’t miss it!
There is something about tonight. There seem to be heaps of interesting things happening in Sydney. Hard to decide what to do!
