Local bikeshop the Kickstand et al created a mean roller sprints setup! They hosted their 2nd event and I think it was pretty successful. The best part was that enough ladies entered to have a girls tournament! Here’s some photos of the girls from the night:

Hopefully I see you kids out at one or more of these events! Despite the cold front, spring is just around the corner!!
March has been off to a brilliant start, with a bike birthday party and time trial in the same weekend!
Awesome cycle girls Becky and Louise hosted a fun bike-love celebration for their March birthdays. Despite the rainy weather, a heap of people participated in an adventurous ride to Kakaako waterfront park for a firedance by Louise (with a couple of first-time fire dancers trying their stuff out as well) and then a ride to Cycle Manoa for a pinata smashing and dance party!
Penny trying out fire dancing
Awesome dance party set-up in Cycle Manoa
The AMAZING hand-crafted Hummer pinata that everyone was all too happy to smash!
Smashing the Hummer with bike parts!
There was a even a pool set up in the bike warehouse
Thanks for the super amazing party for 2 awesommmeee cycle girls!
Part 2 of the weekend was the time trial.. a bit more serious (well, sort of……)
The time trial was held at Mokuleia on the North-Western shore of Oahu with a 12.4 mile route. The organizers created a special fixed-gear category, which inspired a rambunctious crew of riders to participate.
A summary of the “seriousness” of the time trial
1. Ted Shred Stops
2. Time trial on riser bars + a whip skid
3. Eilif completing the entire 12 mile time trial by wheelie, shirtless and in terrific spirits
4. The helmet aero-fications by speedo swim cap
5. The helmet aero-fications by dinosaur shower cap
6. New rider Sabrina’s completion of the time trial as the only female participant, complete with riser bars, a hello kitty backpack and a backwards helmet that none of us caught!

It’s the SSS winter BBQ event! It’s at Pyrmont park and we’re meeting at Martin Place at 1pm. The meat and (hopefully) beer will be provided by the SSS, sausage sandwiches mostly. If you wanting anything else you should bring it yourself, Hos will bring the rice + chopsticks. There will be Trackstand, Skid and the Robo Tube changing competition by Robo Cog. $5 entry to compete in all competitions with a wheel set, t-shirts, bags, Spring Court discount vouchers + 2 pairs of shoes and a tattoo voucher from Ping Pong from Kaleidoscope (are you fucking serious?, the best prize I ever heard of), and, and, and, and a tattoo from up and coming tattoo artist under the guise of the legendary Ping Pong…… Nong Chang for prizes. Sponsored by Robo Cog, SSS, Supply store, OL’GOOD, BFF, Kaleidoscope (Ping Pong), Nong Chang, Spring Court and more sponsors and prizes to come.
It’s going to be a big event and lot’s of fun with rad prizes.
……….we have a secret motive for this event, if I’m to be completly honest, we will be shooting photo’s, collecting broken parts, anything of SSS related interest, ALL YOUR SPOKE CARDS and your stories for the up coming exhibition. Bring your self, your apetite, your stories, which we will document on the day and your bike. B.Y.O bike.

Had a blast on Saturday at Star Trak, the threat of rain and eventual downpour mid race didn’t stop a a great turn out and a super fun night!
Warp Factor 9 Pilots Lee and Lewis.
Plunkett, winner of the Anti Gravity Races.
Frag, Skid Comp winner and Bee, First Female on points.
Jay, First Male on points and Track Stand Comp winner.
Lewis, First Male across the line.
Lee, First Female over the line.
Jay and Tarn demonstrate the Vulcan Vortex of Death. Riders hold a piece of rope with a monkey fist knot at each end, they circle around each other whilst trying to take the other rider out. If you let go of the rope, put your foot down or track stand you’re out, it was hilarious and there was some pretty spectacular stacks.
Jacky, managed to stay upright for 3 rounds of the Vulcan Vortex of Death and took the winners title and prize.
This is a really dark and unfortunately not very good quality video of the Vulcan Voretx of Death being played out by Jacky and Jay, but you can kinda get the idea of what’s going on.
The Goods. A huge thanks to our super generous sponsors! And thanks so much to everyone that helped out, check pointed, participated and made the event what it was.

The prizes were super awesome…. Big ups to the sponsors of Aloha Sunday!!
The day was kicked off with a trackstand water balloon toss:
The only lady participant, Marissa, concentrating and owning at this event!
Next up was the sprint competition, courier style! Participants had to race to the grocery store, purchase a fresh produce item, and return with the item and the receipt to win.
The ladies are getting ready to race!
Johnny won the guy’s division, and got his cute daughter to hold the loot! This photo will definitely melt the hearts of the sponsors.
The skid competition was intense! Yvonne rocked it!
The trick competition was so entertaining, with Lindsey wow-ing the crowd by surfing his bike down a ramp, barefooted.
Hillary, Mary and I got some goodies for round 2 of sprints! Mary was the prize winner of the day, taking home an AlohaTron prize of a custom embroidered bicycle pillow and a new pink fixation tire for winning the skid comp!
