My friend Tyler (aka Methdad) has organized an insane event in Murfreesboro, TN for next Saturday (April 10th). Keith and I will definitely be there, and any one who can make it out really should; this is going to be A LOT of fun! Full line up of bands can be found here.
“Tour de Fun is going to be a huge community bike ride, which will visit as many house shows as we can, with two bands playing 10 min sets each at each house. The cookout starts at 3pm at MOAB; bring some food and throw it on the grill. During the cookout there will be a foot down competition, trick competition, sprints, and a raffle. Around 6:30pm everyone will go to the first house, see two bands, then go to the next and see two bands, and so on. The ride will end at the Temptation Club, where there will be some more bands, d.j.’s, food, drinks, friends, and fun. The date for the ride is Saturday April 10th. Tour de Fun is the first step at creating a more tight and friendly bike community. It will also be showcasing a list of local artist and bands.” -Tyler Walker

Earlier this month, our local fixed gear collective AlohaFixed threw an amazing all day event for the Hawaiian riders. With track bikes gaining popularity, this was designed to allow everyone to meet new riders and have fun! Name tags were even provided. Bikes were tagged with flyers all around the university and honolulu to inform everyone of the event, which turned out to be a great success!
We have such a beautiful place to ride! Ocean View!

Marissa participating in the Trackstand Simon Says event!

Mary getting ready for the sprints around Daimondhead!

Ramsey skidding away in the Longest Skid competition!

The boys showing off their tricks during the trick comp.. 3 minutes to impress the judges!

There were some intense rounds of bike polo as well!

And I can’t forget the cute critter of the day!

(The cute critter being Monchi the dog, not me!)
Big ups to Mike Keany for the pics!
Next Aloha Sunday event will be in April, so will keep you all posted!
Cheers!

I’m back in Sydney now, I’m certainly going to miss Japan. I had the most amazing time and met so many lovely people. I’ll definitely be going back, I feel like I’ve seen such a small part of a such a varied and beautiful country. I’ve put my CMWC pics on flickr, you can check them out here.

This is Hannan, originally from San Francisco, she took out the female title at the CMWC. She rides an Affinity frame and prefers sprint racing over road racing. Awesome work Hannan!

This is Kim from New York, she came a close second to Hannan in the female Sprints final. Not only fast she had the best set of pins I’ve seen in a while!

More good times at the Worlds on Thursday, headed over to watch the finals of the Skids and Sprint race competitions which had many thrills and spills and drew a huge crowd. Benzy <Melbourne courier> put in a top effort, while Joe <Melbourne courier> displayed some fantastic agility, he managed to sip/skid/stack all without spilling a single drop of his Sapporo, good work Joe!
The highlight of the sprint race had to be The Original Nakenger, a Frenchman who apparently earnt his nickname some years ago in Paris when he threw his kit off and attempted to swim the river Seine with his bike in tow. He obviously made it to get naked on another day, I’ve heard mixed reports on the survival of the bike. Viva La Française! I say. With all the images of naked chicks on bikes flooded all over the internet I say we could do with a few more fit, naked men on bikes!
