Not usually a fan of clear grips, I liked them on the red, another Tokyo sighting.

We met a few cyclo tourists when travelling around Japan, all of them locals riding around and exploring their own country, and why not, it’s so beautiful. This is Kitani we met him as he was about to embark on a 9 day tour around part of Shikoku. I’m not sure what type of bike this is, he told us it’s British made, and not satisfied with the colour, he had it gold plated! He could probably do with some of these… Phil woods gold plated hubs.

The owner of this bike works in Shinjuku, she had painstakingly added on diamantes right the way around her back rim!

I was lucky enough to catch up with Shino (fellow Candy Cranks author) when I was in Tokyo. She took me to a few bike shops, one of them her favourite (Beans, more on that later), showed me her steed and told me about the new frame she purchased in London at Brick Lane Bikes. Sounds like it’s gonna be a gorgeous build! Awesome to see you Shino, hope you can make it to Sydney soon!

I noticed when shopping around Harajuku (Tokyo), all the guys that work in the cool trainer/t-shirt/skate shops have their immaculately kept bikes proudly on display in the shop or just outside the door. Check out the stem/handlebar combo on this Brooklyn Machine Works Park.

This is Rie from Nagoya, she was at the CMWC with her super cute matching bike and outfit. She was bubblier than a bottle of Verve and and excited to be there. Rie had customised her rims with stickers and her bike has it’s very own freight baggage beer holder.

I’m back in Sydney now, I’m certainly going to miss Japan. I had the most amazing time and met so many lovely people. I’ll definitely be going back, I feel like I’ve seen such a small part of a such a varied and beautiful country. I’ve put my CMWC pics on flickr, you can check them out here.
